Other Churches with Christian Roots

The following are churches which have little or nothing in common between them except for their Christian roots. They generally recognize additional sources of inspiration other than the Christian Bible and may or may not identify themselves as Christian.

Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)
The UUA's Identity-Based Ministries includes a section on Accessibility. Included is a version of the same extensive congregational survey tool used by the United Methodist Church.

Mormons. The common name give to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) and related groups which grew out of a 19th century American movement which recognized additional revelation given to Joseph Smith.
LDS has a Disabilities Resources section of the denominational website.

Jehovah's Witnesses
Jehovah's Witnesses emerged out of a Bible Student movement in the U.S. in the 19th century.  Their distinctive views are disseminated through the Watch Tower magazine.  Some sample articles on disabilities are "Disabilities Know No Boundary" and "Raising Children With Special Needs." See also a short researched article, "Jehovah's Witnesses' views on disability" from Exceptional Parent magazine.
